My package arrived!!!

Wow! It's like Christmas came early! I got some fancy chocolate, some darling stitch markers, a journal, cool sock yarn and patterns, another KP circular for my collection, a huge bag, and I think best of all a drop spindle and some roving!!!!! Squeeee!!! Now I can learn to spin! Pictures will follow, but probably not for a week or so, as we are leaving for vacation tomorrow, camping where there is no internet access. (Sounds bad, but there is also no cell phone reception, which sounds even worse, BUT it means I can't get a pleading call from work asking if there's any way possible I could come in for a few hours.)

Thank you Antonio!

My owl is flexing his wings

limbering up, and getting ready to carry my package to Callisto tomorrow.

Bag is done!

Callisto's bag is done, finally! I'm getting the last few items together, and plan to mail the package on or about the 10th.

That is, unless I get detention again.

By the way, is there actually a *rule* against telling the firsties that it's a professor's birthday so they sing to him in the Great Hall?

It wasn't me, you can't prove it was me, he was like that when I got here...

So...word of advice to fellow Slytherins...unless you really enjoy scrubbing all the trophies in the trophy room without magic, do not:

1) Sneak a batch of gillyweed out of the greenhouse.

2) Feed it to a gaggle of gullible firsties, telling them it's a "special wizard delicacy"

3) Yell, "Oh Merlin, no! Run, run for your lives! It's coming right at us! Into the lake, we'll be safe, it can't swim!" and chase them toward the water when you didn't actually see a thing.

4) Laugh so hard you swear you will need skele-gro for the three ribs you cracked because you never saw anything so funny in your whole life.

p.s. I swear I had more of a sense of humor at 11. And I did have a drying charm and some pepper-up ready, so no harm no foul, right?

p.p.s. That Ravenclaw was totally exaggerating...the Squid barely touched him. It definitely did not "grab him" and "nearly squeeze the life out of him".

p.p.p.s. And I totally do not believe he knows mermish.

p.p.p.p.s. On the other hand, I didn't think he knew words like that either. I wonder if the soaping hex has worn off his mouth yet?

Sorry I haven't posted lately

I've been serving detention.

Who knew the Puffies would take it so *seriously* when I charmed snowballs to follow them around like bludgers? I mean, I thought they would have appreciated the extra quidditch practice.

But maybe it was taking it too far to have a round dozen pelting dela Weasley in the Great Hall? Quinn spoke to me at great length on the proper value of Slytherin subtlely. ;-)

Slytherin Quiz

Here it goes...I've been in bed all day, taking breaks only to wobble to the bathroom and drinking small sips of ginger ale that the house elves have been bringing me.

House Quiz
These are short answer questions. Try to answer them completely - if three people do something, for example, give all three names. When you have done the quiz and posted on your blog, please come comment here so we can go check it. Thanks!

1. Harry discovers in Regulus' room that he and Regulus have something uncommon and unexpected in common. What is this, and how did he figure it out?
Regulus was also trying to destroy the horcruxes. He found the note with the initials RAB on it, and made the connection with Regulus Black.

2.On three ocassions former professors can be presumed to have "visited" the trio while they are in "exile" - which professors and which ocassions would these be?
Umbridge at the Ministry of Magic, Lupin at 12 Grimmauld and Phineas Black in the forest from the portrait of Hermione in her bag.

3. How do Ron and Harry get into the Ministry?
They use polyjuice potion

4. Who is the blond-haired boy, and why is he important?
He's Grindlewald...who grew up to be a dark wizard but at the time was apparently Dumbledore's sweet baboo. :-)

5. How is the exception that food cannot be conjured classified?
Gamp's elemental law of transformation states that food can be multiplied but not created from nothing.

6. Where does the trio first run into Dean Thomas?
In the forest while he was on the run.

7. Bathilda Bagshot does not speak in front of Hermione and Ron because....
It's not really Bathilda Bagshot--it was Nagini in disguise. It would have given her away if she spoke in Parseltoungue

8. Who can Harry be said to have buried in Deathly Hallows?
Crabbe

9. Which Horcruxes has Harry actually seen in person before the book starts?
Nagini, the Diary, the resurrection stone, and himself

10. Who actually destroys each of the Horcruxes?
The diary which produced the teenage Riddle revenant - destroyed by Harry with the basilisk fang
Nagini - stabbed with Godric Gryffindor's sword by Neville
Hermione destroyed Helga Hufflepuff's cup
Ron Weasley destroyed the locket
Dumbledore broke the resurrection stone
Crabbe destroyed the Ravenclaw diadem accidentally with fiendfire
Harry was killed by Voldemort

Extra credit:

Tom Riddle's grandfather inherited the stone of resurrection. Harry's father inherited the invisibility cloak. What does this imply about Tom Riddle and Harry Potter?
The Potters must somehow (through marriage?) be related to the Gaunts and the Peverells. Which is not really surprising given that most purebloods are related to each other, and draws into question Dumbledore's true motivation in sending Harry to live with the Evanses...given pureblood interrelation, I find it a bit of a stretch that there was *no-one* who was even vaguely related to the Potters still alive. (Did he want Harry to have a hard life to set him up to feel extremely grateful to Dumbledore when Dumbledore "rescued" him?)
